iPhone 3.0 The SDK and Features Show Off List

Yesterday the Apple iPhone 3.0 press conference began with showing of amazing numbers followed by the list of new features. Arrival time of iPhone 3.0 : This summer. We have to wait a bit friends.

Here are a few stats from Apple:

• 13.7 million iPhones sold in ‘08.
• 25,000 apps available in the App Store.
• 77 Countries ships iPhone
• 800 million times App Store downloads

The list of included features in iPhone 3.0 are:

• Cut-Copy and Paste, works also on App Store apps.
• Spotlight search tool search and finds anything on the iPhone .
• Landscape mode for all iPhone native apps. A wider keyboard for Mail and SMS.
• MMS Support
• Usability Improvements, should result a better “feel” while working on the iPhone

iPhone developers will get their hands on the new iPhone 3.0 SDK immediately. This will give developers time to have apps ready by the time we get the new OS this summer.

Over 1000 New api's in the iPhone 3.0 SDK for developers:

• Peer 2 Peer bluetooth proximity api, using Bonjour technology
  
• Push notifications, giving apps the ability to send messages to you, even when the app is not running
• Maps and audio can now be used inside any iPhone app. GPS apps with with turn-by-turn directions is finally achievable. You have to pay for the maps.
  
• The other great new iPhone feature for developers is the support for downloadable content within an app. This means an app can get upgraded with new content like new game levels, new characters, new music, almost anything.This enables devlopers to create games that have long shelf lives and have high replay value.
